The Ohmapi Nature Project
Learn Through Nature While In Nature
At The Ohmapi Nature Project students Learn Through Nature While in Nature.
Ohmapi is a unique educational program. Student are immersed in nature all day everyday. By weaving academics into nature studies, the students learn academic and specialty subjects in a holistic experiential manner. We offer several options for year-round outdoor learning: 3 day per week Academic Nature Program, 2 day per week Specialty Subject Program and 5 day per week Academic + Specialty Subject Program.
We are a Private Membership Association (PMA). Our programs are offered only to our members. New members are always welcome. We welcome open-minded families who feel called upon to build a new educational community. A community that supports independence in education, medical freedom, communication, and curiosity and is based in and on the teachings found in nature. If you are interested in becoming a member and part of our community, please fill out a contact form or send an email and we will contact you shortly.
Ohmapi is legally defined as a “homeschool enrichment program”. As such, our program, and the families enrolled, have greater autonomy in how our kids learn.
Nature is the Norm
Spending frequent and ample time in nature, children absorb the natural rhythms, patterns and cycles of the natural world and intuitively apply a nature based understanding to the world around them.
Low Student to Instructor Ratio
A 10:1 student to instructor ratio gives us the opportunity to form meaningful relationships with our participants and establish necessary connections for learning.
Our Goal:
To help the children and parents of Nevada County by providing an educational resource where children can maximize their time outdoors and learn in a holistic manner.

"My nine year old daughter entered The Ohmapi Nature Project last year and even though the World was in crisis-mode, one would have never known about the fares of the Globe once they stepped foot into the "classroom" that Dawn created.
Dawn and Macy made 2021 a Joyous and memorable year for not only my daughter, but for me as well. As a parent, it was comforting to know that my child would be held in a sacred space which would encourage: optimal learning, self-respect and respect of others, creative imaginative play, and a strong synergistic holistic approach to education.
Dawn's well thought out curriculum, detailed teaching skills, as well as her positive, confidence building mentorship style, allowed my daughter to blossom during a time when it was most needed.
Dawn and Macy made such an impact in Kaila's life. She left Ohmapi Nature Project a more confident, assertive, appreciative and balanced human with a deep reverence for all living things and a new found Love for Math!
I highly recommend this school. Dawn's guidance and genuine presence fosters an environment for students to be their Best Selves."
