Art with Kara, 10:15am-11:35am
Class description: Fine Art / drawing and painting.
Students will learn the fundamentals of how to see like an artist.
This is a much different way of viewing the world and is an invaluable skill. It encourages creativity and imagination, as well as the logical skills of recording three dimensional reality onto two dimensional paper with the dexterity and coordination of our hands, minds and hearts.
At about the age of 8 years old many children give up on drawing or painting and declare that they are “no good” or “not an artist”. This is due mostly to their desire to make things look real, and the lack of instructional teachers who can teach how to do so. This class is much more than a “how to” step by step instructional video such that can be found on youtube. But rather the fundamentals on drawing and painting tools, color theory, spatial relationships, the principles of realism, the understanding of diversity and patterns in nature and most importantly the building of your child’s confidence to continue their own artistic journey. Now more than ever we will need to be artists in every endeavor, career and life passion we pursue as complex ways of being, require us to see in new perspectives.
