In our first collection of Daisy stories, we share 3 of our original historical fiction stories about Daisy and her pal Jed the miner. The stories take place in 1849-1851. Her adventures in this collection help children learn about gold mining, geology, nutrition, miners lettuce, the Nisenan, basket making and grasshoppers. Appropriate for ages 5-15
This is a story and language arts lesson about the last wild grizzly bear in Southern California. It includes a historical fiction story about a bear written by the Ohmapi team and based upon primary sources from the early 1900’s. It also includes a guided tutorial on how to draw a grizzly bear and how to draw the California flag. Writing skills are developed and practiced in this lesson.
